Congratulations to Angela McCarty who closed on her home in Lakewood and Joan Stankiewitch who also closed on her home in Forked River through the Ocean County First Time Homebuyer Program. Both Ocean County residents worked with Mark Lamela, Ocean Inc. First Time Housing Counselor, who was the applicants point of contact assisting and guiding them throughout the entire first-time homebuying process.
The First Time Homebuyer Program is sponsored by the Ocean County Board of Commissioners on behalf of the Ocean County Consortium through the Ocean County Planning Department and is administered in partnership with Ocean Inc.
O.C.E.A.N., Inc. has been the administrator of the First Time Homebuyer program in Ocean County, New Jersey for 27 years. Since 1996, there have been 575 Ocean County closings, totaling $5,292,000 in deferred loans. In 2022, there were 12 closings with an average purchase price of $199,792 and to date in 2023, there have been 6 closings with an average purchase price of $159,402.
The Ocean County First-Time Homebuyer Program could help you achieve your dream of owning a home!
You are a first-time homebuyer if (among other eligibility requirements):
• You have not owned a home on your own in the past three years
• You previously owned a home with a former spouse or significant other and no longer reside in the home and are trying to purchase a home solely and separately.
If you were not able to attend the last set of FTHB workshops and would like to participate, another round of workshops are planned for August, 2023.
