O.C.E.A.N., Inc. concluded the National Community Action Month Initiative on Friday evening as Head Start and other agency families were treated to a free baseball game at ShoreTown Ballpark in Lakewood, NJ.
What a night for the families. Eiberson Castellano struck out 13 batters and the BlueClaws topped Brooklyn 7-5 right in front of a sold-out crowd of 8,558.
Castellano's 13 strikeouts were a new career high and the most by a BlueClaws pitcher this season. Jersey Shore (27-22) pulls to within two games of first place Greensboro in the SAL North. At the start of the game, our very own Head Start student Mateo Vargas Velasquez and his dad Palino Vargas were able to showcase their skills by throwing out the 1st Pitch of the game.
Prior to the 1st pitch, Head Start children received a free Medusa t-shirt as the families marched the field while a Public Service Announcement was made describing the Community Action Month Initiative and the 59 Years of Head Start.
The O.C.E.A.N., Inc. staff, Board of Directors and families would like to thank the Lakewood Blueclaws for allowing us to participate in the ‘Medusas de Lakewood’ Copa de la Diversion, or “Fun Cup," celebration of the best of Hispanic/Latino culture and heritage at the Lakewood ShoreTown Ballpark.
