O.C.E.A.N. Inc. Early Head Start (EHS) Home-Based program provides high quality early childhood education, family support, and comprehensive services to infants and toddlers ages 0-3 and pregnant women in Ocean County, New Jersey. All services, including healthy snacks during socialization events, are provided at no cost to families. .
Early Head Start is Weekly Home Visits

EHS Home-Based children participate in engaging, interactive lessons and activities during weekly 90-minute home visits delivered in the comfort of their own home in partnership with their parent or guardian at a time that is mutually convenient for you and your Home Visitor. Our research-based curriculum is designed to reinforce key skills and help infants and toddlers develop socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically. Further enhanced by our comprehensive services and individualized support, our program helps children build the strong foundation for learning that enables them to thrive in kindergarten and beyond.

Our curriculum focuses on three different areas: 
o    Parent/child interactions
o    Development-centered parenting
o    Family well-being

Weekly home visits are a fun and interactive time for you and your child to participate in learning activities together with the support of your home visitor. We believe that you are your child’s best teacher, and we will partner with you in supporting your child’s development and learning. We use a curriculum called Partners for a Healthy Baby which provides information and activities to support your child’s development and learning during home visits and throughout the week between visits. During home visits, you will have time to engage in activities with your child while also learning about child development and other parenting topics that are of interest to you. You and your Home Visitor will work together to plan visits that meet the individual needs of your child and family.

And Early Head Start is also Parent-Child Socializations
Participants and their families also enjoy interactive social events held at convenient locations throughout Ocean County, such as O.C.E.A.N., Inc. facilities, local parks, etc. These events occur throughout the month and provide children and families with opportunities to connect and build friendships with other enrolled families while participating in engaging discussions and learning activities and enjoying delicious, nutritious, culturally appropriate snacks together. Socializations offer a variety of activities such as: circle time, art, sensory exploration, and free play time for you and your child to experience together.

Interpreters are available to support you and your child during Socialization.
