Low Income Home Energy Assistance and Universal Service Fund
The Weatherization program is designed to address the needs of cost-burdened, low-income Ocean County residents, unable to afford the added expense of repairing or replacing items in their home that if repaired or replaced, could help them reduce or eliminate high energy bills.
Eligibility is based on income guidelines from the federal government. Program services may include:
1. Energy Audit
2. Insulating attics and crawlspaces
3. Air sealing seams and cracks
4. Heating system repair or replacement
5. Water heater repair or replacement
6. Broken glass repair
7. Sealing and insulating ductwork
8. Ventilation system installation
(O.C.E.A.N., Inc. provides reasonable accommodations to those with physical disabilities (first floor accommodations/elevators) and language requirements (barriers) through the use of in-house translators when required for agency program services).
The Department of Energy's Weatherization Assistance Program has saved over 7 million households money through energy assistance. For every dollar that the program spends, it generates $4.50 in benefits.
Both the homeowner and the landlord are eligible for this program.
